WHGI Launches the 2025 Youth-Powered Global Health Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator (GHLAA) Program Application

Jun 4, 2025

The William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health is now accepting applications for the Youth-Powered Global Health Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator (GHLAA)—a dynamic two-week hybrid training set for October 2025, just before the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) 2025. This intensive program is designed to equip young and mid-career professionals in global health, especially in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with the leadership and advocacy skills needed to drive real change.

Building on the legacy of WHGI’s acclaimed Leadership Accelerators—which trained nearly 600 professionals across 71 countries—GHLAA is grounded in peer learning, mentorship, and action-oriented training. The updated curriculum integrates SMART advocacy, a results-driven framework that enables participants to design compelling campaigns and seize policy windows.

Participants will join a cohort of passionate changemakers in hands-on sessions led by youth trainers who are alumni of the program. They’ll gain tools in strategic planning, communications, policy analysis, and team leadership—all within a supportive, youth-driven space. Through collaborative exercises with global health leaders, participants will sharpen their advocacy voice and build networks that last far beyond the workshop.

GHLAA is open to youth globally, with priority given to local youth-led organizations and advocates from within the training region (Colombia). Applicants must be 18–35 years old by September 1, 2025.

Alumni of this accelerator don’t just leave with a certificate—they return home as empowered advocates, ready to lead SRHR movements, shape policy, and mentor the next generation of leaders. If you’re passionate about transforming global health through youth-led solutions, apply to GHLAA and take your leadership to the next level.

Applications are now open. Join the movement.
