WHGI Global Programs
Unlocking Success Through Global Collaboration
Founded on the mission of Scholarship and Science for Social Change, the William H. Gates Sr. Institute (WHGI) has spent more than 25 years advancing innovation in family planning, reproductive health, and population dynamics.
At WHGI, we turn evidence into action—strengthening local capacity, supporting country-led leadership, and translating research into policies, programs, and practices that improve lives.
Our impact is powered by a broad global network. Since 1999, we have partnered with more than 370 institutions and local governments worldwide, with over 90% based in the Global South. These partnerships shape how we work: collaboratively, locally led, and grounded in shared expertise to drive meaningful change through our Global Programs.
As we look ahead, WHGI is expanding engagement with non-traditional partners, diversifying its funding base, and continuing to challenge unequal power structures in global development. We are committed to advancing equity, transparency, and inclusive decision-making that strengthens country-based leadership and accelerates lasting impact.
