Assistant Professor

Dr. Shannon N. Wood's research focuses on the intersection between social determinants of women’s health, most notably gender-based violence, and adverse reproductive and sexual health outcomes. As a Senior Technical Advisor for PMA, PMA-Ethiopia, and PMA Agile, Dr. Wood leads research surrounding reproductive coercion, intimate partner violence, and partner dynamics, and works with in-country partners to increase PMA’s data utilization. Dr. Wood is particularly interested in the use of mixed-methods research to improve measurement surrounding sensitive topics and the development and evaluation of community-based interventions. Her research aims to enhance safety and improve reproductive and sexual health outcomes for vulnerable populations in low-resource settings.
