Summer Institute 2022: Data to Policy in Population, Family and Reproductive Health

Enhance your ability to use data to shape, advocate for, and evaluate policies that affect families, reproductive health, and the health of populations.

You’re invited to participate in the Summer Institute in Data to Policy, offered by the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 Summer Institute courses will be offered in a distance-learning, remote format. One course (Youth Voice in Public Health) will be offered in hybrid format with the option to participate in-person or virtually. All other courses will be offered virtually.

Develop skills to:

Assess health and health determinants using data and scientific research.

  1. Critically Evaluating the Science for Policy and Practice

Develop and advocate for evidence-based policies to respond to population health needs.

  1. Advocating for Global Reproductive Health
  2. Creating, Implementing and Monitoring Budgets for Projects and Programs
  3. Strategic Leadership Principles and Tools for Health System Transformation in PFRH
  4. Using Data to Inform Family Planning Policies
  5. Youth Voice in Public Health*

Evaluate and discuss policy impact to assure implemented policies and programs achieve their purpose.

  1. Introduction to Program Evaluation in PFRH
  2. Public Health Perspectives on Abortion Policy

The Summer Institute offers:

  1. Condensed course formats from two days to two weeks
  2. Courses that can be taken for credit or non-credit
  3. Industry-leading, interactive online courses
  4. Bloomberg School faculty instruction

The Summer Institute is open to non-degree and degree students. Visit the registration page for information. Tuition remission is available for eligible for JHU employees.
