Featuring Ronald D. Lee, Ph.D.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, the Demographic Dividend (DD) Initiative, and the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) hosted the latest webinar in the DD Luminaries Series on Tuesday, 11 July.

This webinar, featuring Ronald D. Lee, Ph.D. (University of California, Berkeley), describes the development and use of the National Transfer Accounts (NTA) to measure and understand the generational economy—the social institutions and economic mechanisms used by each generation or age group to produce, consume, share, and save resources.

It also covers elements of the first and the second Demographic Dividends, including the likely size and duration of the first Demographic Dividend that countries in sub-Saharan Africa may obtain and the economic consequences of population aging in high-income countries.
