Victor Igharo

Senior Program Officer II

Victor Igharo is a Senior Program Officer II and Nigeria Team Lead for The Challenge Initiative (TCI) at WHGI. He is a seasoned global health leader and social impact expert helping to translate research into high-impact strategies, policies, and programs that deliver systems-level change at scale through inclusive development models and innovative financing.

Prior to his current role, he served as Associate Director-Technical with Axios Foundation Nigeria where he managed the new business and strategic program development portfolio with projects spanning Nigeria, Liberia, and Sudan facilitating the design and implementation of various big-ticket multi-country programs for expanding access to lifesaving health commodities in low resource settings. He has also participated in a number of multi-donor TA missions across Africa.

His early health development sojourn centered on high level civil society advocacy and community engagements where he articulated series of global development discourse. His work and interest focused on exploring the Trades Related Intellectual Property (TRIPS) flexibilities to improve generic medicine access in developing countries. He also cut his teeth in the private sector space where he led business and new program development focused on public-private partnerships, generic pharmaceutical market access, base of pyramid market activation and small business development for the health sector.

He is a pharmacist and alumni of the World Bank Institute on health financing. He also holds Master in Business Administration, Master in Public Health, and Doctor of Pharmacy. Victor is an impact investing enthusiast with interests in exploring social innovation, new investment models and market-driven approaches in promoting global health excellence and sustainable development in Africa. He currently lives in Nigeria with his family with whom he enjoys travelling, learning new cultures, trying new cuisines, and public speaking.
