Celebrating Global Collaboration for Family Planning
The Challenge Initiative (TCI) was honored with the esteemed 2024 P3 Impact Award during the Concordia Annual Summit held on September 24 in New York City. The award, presented by Dorothy McAuliffe, Special Representative for Global Partnerships at the U.S. Department of State, highlights TCI’s exceptional public-private partnership (P3) model, which focuses on addressing global challenges through sustainable family planning programs across Africa and Asia.
Transforming Family Planning Across Continents
“This recognition underscores the power of public-private partnerships in addressing critical global issues,” said Kojo Lokko, TCI’s Executive Director. TCI has transformed family planning services in 13 countries, empowering urban populations with essential tools and resources for sustainable health solutions.
A Model of Innovation and Sustainability
Since its launch in 2016, TCI has worked with 213 city governments, contributing to 4.6 million additional family planning users across Africa and Asia. TCI’s unique approach to local leadership, government financing, and scalable health solutions has set a new global standard, with partners such as Bayer AG and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation driving impactful results.
Recognition of Cross-Sector Excellence
George Roberts of Bayer, who accepted the award, expressed pride in TCI’s achievements. “Through our collaboration with TCI, we are making great strides toward empowering 100 million women by 2030 with access to family planning,” he said.
