In Indonesia, a maternal health care social insurance program known as Jampersal, or labor and delivery insurance, now includes subsidies for intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants, thanks to advocacy efforts by Advance Family Planning (AFP) with two government agencies, the Ministry of Health and the National Family Planning Board (BKKBN), who agreed to work together at the district level. A significant resource for the poor, the program increases access to family planning services and provides early counseling to potential acceptors.
