William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health Unveils Refreshed Strategy through 2030

Oct 25, 2023

The William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health (formerly Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health) proudly announces the launch of our 2023-2030 strategy. Through our participatory strategic refresh process, our vision has remained steadfast: a future where scholarship and science improve health and transform lives at scale.

At the core of our mission lies a dedication to fostering progress in gender equity, sexual and reproductive health and rights, population dynamics, and equitable development. We collaborate with local partners, championing evidence-based policies and programs that save lives by the millions. We envision a world where evidence-based policies, programs, and practices drive social change to save lives—millions at a time.

Cross-cutting Global Programs

Rooted at the country level for cost-effective sustainable scale, we expand our work to highlight the significance of five interconnected Global Programs:

  • Research, Measurement, and Data Monitoring
  • Policy, Advocacy, and Community-building
  • Best Practices Scale Up
  • Next Generation Leaders
  • Demographic Futures, Population, and Environment

Including our foundational and cross-cutting Gender Equity work. Each of the Gates Institute Global Programs offers unique platforms for investment that enable us to address the most pressing public health and sexual and reproductive health and rights challenges of our time.

The Platform Approach

Central to our strategy is our innovative platform approach. Our platform approach creates a sustainable global social impact that knows no boundaries. It is not bound by set end dates; rather, it is a legacy of change. Leveraging expertise, partnerships, and resources from diverse investors, we ensure lasting transformations. Our focus remains on maximizing impact at the local level, creating solutions that are not only sustainable but also scalable.

Gender Equity: A Guiding Principle

Gender equity is not just a part of our approach; it’s our guiding principle. Integrated across all our Global Programs, it serves as the beacon guiding us toward social justice, empowerment, and equality. We address health disparities among marginalized populations, ensuring easier access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services. By breaking down barriers that hinder the participation of women and girls in society, we aim to pave the way for a gender-equal world.

Our refreshed strategy is a testament to our unwavering commitment to transforming lives and empowering communities. Together, we will continue to drive meaningful change, ensuring a future where health disparities are eradicated, and every individual’s right to health and well-being is realized. Join us on this transformative journey, where every initiative brings us one step closer to a brighter, healthier world.
